Living Life Intentionally: November 21, 2011
I had an interesting conversation with a friend of mines
earlier this week. She told me to "Live life Intentionally, not by
Default". That quote has resonated with me this entire week. One way I've
understood it is through eye contact. I've noticed the secure feeling I have
when people look me in the eyes when we converse. They say that the "eyes
are the window to the soul" and this quote correlates with living with
intention. To not look someone in the eyes is to close your blinds. It keeps us
from looking in and forces us to wonder, "What are you hiding".
Living life intentionally also makes you more confident. To allow someone a
peak into your heart is quite a risk. To allow someone to see your achievements
and failures, your conquests and defeats, your smiles and your frowns, your
excellence and flaws.
Living intentionally makes it easier to bond with others. I
cannot possibly tell you how easy it is to make a connection with someone who
asks, "How are you doing", and really wants to know. Or when people
say, "Have a great day", with a warm smile and firm handshake, it
actually makes my day. Living life by default is just going through the
motions, and it doesn't mean as much.
Or is this just me… Am I the only one who feels this way?
