Forgiveness: Part One
I gave the issue thought for months
And now I finally gave it up
I was invited to see him at the hospital
Just to say, "What's up?"
I told them I had things to do
If I'm done I'll drop on by
I tried to say it with a smile
But they knew it was a lie
They know the pain that I have seen
They knew that we weren't well
The fights that we would have
He'd tell me to "Go to hell"
Maybe that's where he's headed now
Maybe time has called
I pace outside the waiting room
Hoping time will stall
I go to the front desk and say
"I've come for a visit,
Room 137
Can you point me to it?"
She looks at me with deep, sad eyes
She pauses for far too long
"I'm sorry sir, the man
In Room 137 is gone."
