Maybe We Need "Bad" People

Maybe We Need “Bad” People

I hate when they
Call you a criminal
Because they weren’t there to
See what you went through
I hate when they say
That you’re evil
Because I don’t know
Where I’d be without you

You were the one
Who defended me
I was protected because
Of your popularity
You were the one
Who jumped in
To support me
I wouldn’t be breathing
If your fists
Weren’t there
When they swarmed me

You were the one
Who sold the drugs
To keep me stylish
And to help pay the bills
You were the one
Who “collected” violently
To keep me fed
You could’ve been killed

I thank you
And sadly society
Will never see
The hero you are
And how in some way
You freed me
From where we began
As I drive away
And you re-enter the bars

Thank you …
For being “bad”
So I had the chance to be good
