Uncivilized
They sat there laughing
They were so naive
They knew nothing about
Social structures
Religion, nor stereotypes
They repeated
The same words over
And over again,
"Mädchen, mädchen..."
They had either just
Learned that word
Or one was teaching it
To the other
Two little girls
Sitting in a stroller
Strangers before
This gray morning
One black and one white
Uncivilized
Not yet dehumanized
But more human
Than the other adults
In the train
Ignoring one another
