Noble

“The important thing is to be able, at any moment, to sacrifice what we are for what we may become.”

 — Charles Dubois

Noble

If your cousin wasn’t my best friend
We could have been together
I could have made some moves on you
We could have been forever

If your cousin wasn’t my best friend
I could have loved you so
Kiss your lips and hold your hands
I wouldn’t let you go

If your cousin wasn’t my best friend
If we weren’t close for years
I would have betrayed his trust
To not see you in tears

If your cousin was an acquaintance
I wouldn’t give it much thought
I’d go behind his back to love you
Your heart I would have sought

But your cousin is my best friend
My honor must remain intact
I let you go, but simply know
I despise the act

If Only…
